Hi there, and welcome to this short, monthly UHK status update!
We’ve been effectively catching up with pending orders in September and keep closing the gap.
New orders are expected to ship in early November, and we’ll update the delivery status page every weekend.
We’re delighted to hear from UHK 60 v2 customers as they receive their orders. If you got your UHK, tweet about it, or it didn’t happen, even if you're a unicorn!
I am now a proud owner of a @UltHackKeyboard !!! Thanks a lot for the gift @reNotANumber I have longing for this keyboard for a long time.

When will the wireless version come out?

Hello,
just looking for clarification, according to the progress update page from 2022-09-30:
1. There won't be any delivery, containing palm rests, in the week ending 2022-10-07, due to palm rest shortage and probably there are logistics with packaging that takes time.
2. On the week ending 2022-10-14 orders from #12078 to #12428 (and probably more) will be delivered.
3. According to previous readings from both the progress update page and blog entries the October commitment delivery goes at least until #129xx.
4. All needed parts and all resources to support this unprecedented commitment are secured.
5. There is no other impediment that would influence the #129xx milestone.
Kindly please confirm :).
Confirmed, but regarding point 4, our wooden palm rest supplier might be a bottleneck. They're working hard and trying their best to catch up with their part.
ok. I really hope there won't be any delays though.
I'm sure you can find another vendor who will happily manufacture two simple wood pieces you charge astronomic 100€ for.
So that's no excuse for any delay in my honest opinion. This was the most painful part of my order btw. No idea how you came up with that price.
Ship the steel plate separately and everyone can make their own rests.
Also why not ship them later? You charged me 40€ for shipping. I have no idea why this is so expensive but I'm sure you can make two
shipments out of this to get most of the > 600€ to your customers.
Nevermind. I know it is a hard time and probably nobody has a problem waiting but your communication could be more transparent and honest.
Hi Sebastian,
Swapping suppliers is easier said than done. We don't want to switch because of this high temporary high load.
We charge 75 USD for the palm rest. The rest is VAT, and it's our lowest-margin product that we may phase out in the future in favor of an alternative palm rest.
Few customers want to create their own wooden palm rest pieces, so shipping only the steel plate would only work for about 1% of our customers.
I'm sorry, but we won't make separate shipments because of the palm rests, as they only cause about a week's delay. We've already absorbed huge costs due to the chip shortage.
We appreciate your understanding and patience.
so, how about the rest pads? did they arrive? :)
Please see the updated delivery status page.
so ...failed the milestone. I think that "R" word has no meaning in your supply chain. I can absolutely understand the chip shortages, but holding orders for wrists rests is baffling.
Just as an information for you Dinu-Ioan BOBEI,
my order #12920 contains a black uhk + black keycaps + white boxed kaihl switches, palm rests, button module and the trackball module.
Since mid-may 2022 i am coming back to this page just to get info about a new delay again and again.
So first it was like July, then August, then September, then October and now we are talking about a delivery in maybe November. Honestly, i don't think i will get hands on my uhk in 2022 at all.
Don't expect yours to be delivered anytime soon too.
I appreciate for trying to help, Daniel, but given how rapidly we've been catching up recently with pending orders, the delay of your order is not representative at all regarding the order of Dinu-Ioan Bobei.
I remain optimistic. :) indeed it seems a long wait. I do feel that this is the month :). On another perspective, i hope that there are big gaps in the order numbers so that team reaches sooner to my order. I hope the same for your order.
On 2022-09-22 you said that " first pending order #12066, last order is #13675, late October 2022." now you corrected those same numbers to early november. any hiccups or issues? Seeing that i have an order containing a palm rest i feel like i'll still have to wait another month...
Currently, our wooden palm rest manufacturer is a bit behind. We plan to ship your order in early November.
You seen Laszlo, what's happening is that my order (which is from mid-may) is being delayed and delayed again and again.
While i can understand that some things are not in your hands, it's still strange when you say that new orders will be shipped soon while old orders are just being postponed indefinitely.
I'd really appreciate if you
a) communicate information clearly when it's available to you
b) don't communicate deadlines you cannot hold at all
c) be open about what's going on, what is hindering your order fulfilment and say that orders containing palm rests aren't going to be shipped until further notice.
I will still hold onto my order as the UHK is the only split keyboard you can get that's got a trackpoint/touchpad module without me doing the soldering, 3d printing and building myself.
It's still annoying to come back to this blogpost week after week just to see your order being postponed AGAIN.
Coming back to the #13675 late October update... this means it's going to be early November for the #13675 order but STILL my #12920 is not making it before November? In July you said that it will be August, in August you said it's going to be September and now on the 3rd of October it's going to be November? Are we still talking about a delivery in 2022?
I feel for you, but we cannot provide a surefire ETA amidst Covid, the parts shortage, and in such an unstable geopolitical environment. I could write much more detailed or frequent posts about the challenges we've been facing, but it wouldn't make a faster delivery. It would, however, slow down our development pace and company operation because I'm still responsible for many key areas.
We're rapidly catching up, according to the delivery status page. We expect to ship your order in October or early November. Your patience is much appreciated.
for sure doesn't help delivery yet also for sure helps us understanding you much better.
I feel with you. I am waiting for #12903 ...
Let's see, i'll still hold onto my order but if it's not making it this year i'm tempted to get something else instead.
@Laszlo
What about a status page which updates after an order has been shipped? LIke #12001 just got shipped etc? Something that's updating automatically so there is at least some kind of progress we can follow and you don't have to manually update us on your blog post?
I'll develop something like you suggest on the WordPress account dashboard.
Hello,
Just a question, i’ve also been waiting since July. Will order #12648 be shipped soon? :)
Order was in May
Hi there! We plan to ship your order in about a week.
Yes! Thank you, sir! Can’t wait!!
@arnold did you receive your order or at least get the transport notification?
Did you have any issues with orders last week?
from 2022-10-07 to 2022-10-16 the "first pending order to be shipped" hasn't changed from #12491.
The last orders went up from #13787 to #13856 though.
Please check the delivery status page. We're pushing our palm rest supplier.
Oh, that explains it. Kinda jumped over the first paragraph.
Thanks for the info and keep going :-)
According to the delivery page .. there was no progress in the last week?
Please see the updated delivery status page. We keep assembling UHKs but waiting for palm rests.
Ok I see ... I oversaw the first sentence and did look for the numbers only,
Contacted the support couple of days regarding flickering leds on the left half, which then pointed me to this useful knowledgebase article: https://ultimatehackingkeyboard.com/repair/fixing-misbehaving-keys (side note: recommend adding 'blinking' to the search tags, didn't think of 'flicker' myself when searching the knowledgebase).
And looks like the phone, sat between the halves under the connecting cable, was the culprit. Just curious how come there's interference like that? Could the cable be better insulated in the future, or is it something mere insulation can't help with?
Anywho, other users who experience oddities with the leds - try moving your phone further from the keeb.
Thanks for the idea! Added the blink keyword as suggested.
The communication of the halves is prone to interference due to technical reasons. We'll solve this issue in upcoming keyboards, and in the meantime, we'll provide a setting to mitigate the issue.
Hi Laslo, just wanted to ask if you have plans to create Aluminium case covers for UHK?
Hi Bib! No aluminum cases are planned.
Thank you Laszlo for the quick reply! Look forward to the updates next month.
Did I read ... upcoming keyboards? More details please ;-)
I'm sorry, but we don't plan to release information about upcoming products. On the bright side, we have a long roadmap, and it'll be an exciting ride. :)
A wireless version with non-staggered layout would be nice.
Preferably with a dongle or bluetooth and with multiple connections you can switch to like logitech does it on the K860 or MX Vertical
Thanks for the idea!
Hi, thanks for your hard work.
Wouldn't be easier to ship the keyboard and ship the palm rest in a later stage when they start becoming available.
I know it's a bit of logistics overhead but I'm sure we would appreciate receiving the keyboard and won't mind waiting for the palm rest a little bit :)
Best
Hi Mack, and thanks for the kind words!
Our current order fulfillment system doesn't allow the shipment of partial orders. Even if it would, we couldn't ship partial orders much faster, but the extra shipping costs on our side would be substantial, and we've also been absorbing huge extra costs due to the chip shortage.
Thanks for your patience!
This should be an opt-in option at an extra cost, but agreed with Mack - this sounds like a good idea.
In cases you know component X is blocking assembly & delivery, users could opt to have that component shipped on a later date.
How much work it needs in the order management system is another thing though. Could be a nightmare.
I can see the merit of partial shipping, but we're getting very close to shipping every pending order, and once we're done, this will be a non-issue.
Non-issue for this time. Hopefully UHK has decades of manufacturing ahead of it, so why not be better prepared to potential future snafus?
It's too much work for now. We'll cross that bridge when we have to.
