Hi there, and welcome to this monthly UHK status update!
We’ve been churning out as many modules as we could In July and received more feedback than ever, including Yukio Miyamoto’s who happens to be an outstanding illustrator. In his true style, Yukio wasn’t afraid to put his skills to good use, resulting in some spectacular photos.
I’ve recently noticed that our batch allocation algorithm was buggy, and it didn’t respect our first-come, first-served principle. If it did, we would have already shipped every Crowd Supply order. I’ve just fixed our algorithm, and the last Crowd Supply order is expected to leave our facility next Wednesday. Chances are good Crowd Supply will deliver every pending order in August.
We expect to ship non-Crowd Supply module orders in August, too, except for the modules of UHK 60 v2 customers who haven’t ordered a UHK 60 v1. We’ll deliver such modules together with UHK 60 v2 keyboards, as the modules are not helpful without a keyboard.
As for the UHK 60 v2, we received the first production sample of its injection-molded cases just a couple of days earlier.
The cases are the only missing parts to launch UHK 60 v2 production, so this is a major step forward, but they contain some minor defects, and the tooling must be fixed accordingly. We’ll receive subsequent case samples in a week or two, and afterward, the mold may have to be further tweaked depending on the results. We’re pushing hard to launch UHK 60 v2 production in August.
From that point forward, we’ll continuously ship UHK 60 v2 pre-orders on a first-come, first-served basis as quickly as we can. We should be able to ship the majority of UHK 60 v2 preorders in 2021, but some will probably slip to early 2022 despite our best effort. We can’t provide a more precise production schedule yet, but we’ll keep you updated monthly as usual.

You say the cases are the only missing part for you to start production. But what's the status of the PBT key caps? Are those done now? I remember they were mentioned in an earlier update.
Yes, we were waiting for the final PBT keycaps, in the meantime, the PBT keycaps have arrived.

Can you estimate how many units of UHKv2 will you be able to produce a month?
Also, out of curiosity - if the cases are the last thing holding the production, can’t you start making the remaining parts already? So that when the cases arrive you can just put the hardware inside and ship it right away?
We can produce some hundred of UK's per month. We preassemble whatever is possible, but the assembling has a certain order.

We want to deliver quality products and not ship the items in a rush without the final check and send the first version we have. We are also making refinements on the parts.

Unfortunately, we cannot tell you an ETA, we ship on a first-come, first-served basis.
We ship all preorders from last year first, then the new orders. You can follow the process on the blog and in our newsletter.
So maybe you can share something else... Have you shipped the first unit of UHKv2? :)
The first unit of UHK v2 can be expected at the end of this month.
Until at the very last minute of the very last day of August another delay is announced.

The speed of the production is not predictable at the moment. Despite our best efforts, we cannot start shipping earlier, and we cannot tell you how fast the shipping will go.
Say that the "start date" for preorders was Novemebr 2020. What was the "end date" for preorders? At which point preorders stopped and orders began? Now I am unsure if my "order" was a preorder or an order.
Probably would be easier if you said something like "We plan to ship all orders prior to February 2021 by the end of the year" (I am making this up).

I am a bit confused and concerned by this comment. In this post we are saying "We should be able to ship the majority of UHK 60 v2 preorders in 2021". What exactly do we count as "preorders" here? Do we only count orders that were placed last year? For my order placed in April 2021, should I be expecting definitely receiving in 2022 rather than having a slight chance in 2021?
We are doing our best to ship as many v2 items as possible, but we cannot guarantee to ship all preorders/orders this year.
We will send 2 emails;
1. a notification when the items are assembled, packaged, and ready for shipping (with DHL tracking number)
2. a DHL notification when the package is shipped. This email contains a link to the DHL website, where you can enter/change delivery details if necessary.
Last time I was anxious like this was before LOTR part 3 :D Or was it Iron Man 2? Anyway, you guys sure know how to build up the tension xD

Please clarify before which date is an "order" considered a "pre-order"? Are we still in the pre-order phase since none has shipped yet? I think that's what Junde asked about.

Related to this, as I also ordered an UHK v2 in April 2021. Could you perhaps share an approximation on the number of UHK v2 that have been ordered so far? Just a rough estimate would suffice.

The order number is not public, it is not relevant regarding the ETA, because it depends also on the speed of the production.
However, we plan to ship all preorders at the beginning of 2022.
My wrist pain getting worse during this covid situation (need to type more in slack), waiting for my v2 with track ball plugin!!!
I didn't order the arm rest since I want to do my own customize, is it possible to get a blueprint for the mounting part so I can ask someone to do a 3d print?

Mounting layouts will be available after we stop manufacturing the products.
If you mean mounting palm rests to the keyboard, there should still be holes for M4 screws (those big holes in the photo), by which v1 palm rests were mounted. Layout is available here: https://ultimatehackingkeyboard.com/blog/2019/06/16/uhk-mounting-layout . I assume that this is going to be the simplest way of mounting anyway.
On the other hand, if you mean mounting feet, that might indeed be tricky
Can anyone remember. when in November the v2 went on sale? Trying to figure out where what place in the line is (start Dec order)
You can not figure out the ETA because the speed of manufacturing depends on many facts. Unfortunately, we can't influence all of these.
Not looking to guess an ETA, just my vague place in the queue.

The v2 announcement was made on November 5th, and I'm pretty sure it was available for sale basically immediately afterwards. But I reckon that most orders were placed relatively early after announcement, and then tapered off a bit. I don't think my November 18th order will be in the first batch to ship.

The post says non Crowd Supply orders of modules are expected to ship by the end of August. Today is august 25th and my order status is still "Processing". I ordered the trackball module along with my UHK v1 back in october 2020. I since ordred another module in march 2021. The post mentions a buggy algorithm. It also mentions prioritizing v1 owners. Is there another bug ?

Yes, there's a related bug. Due to a backend system issue, several dozen packages, such as yours, got stuck. I'm well aware of this bug and plan to resolve it this week.
Thanks so much for the update. I'm really looking forward to getting my own modules and the UHKv2 whenever they're ready. I LOVE my UHKv1 and it's definitely worth the wait.
