Hi there, and welcome to this short and slightly late monthly UHK status update!
We’ve been catching up with pending orders in July and closing the gap. We couldn’t catch up as rapidly as in June because our busy elves of the assembly team were on a much-deserved vacation, but they’re back stronger than ever. We expect August to be a strong month in terms of production.
New orders are expected to ship in October, and we’ll update the delivery status page every weekend.
We’re delighted to hear from UHK 60 v2 customers as they receive their orders. If you got your UHK, tweet about it, or it didn’t happen!
@UltHackKeyboard It was worth the wait. I have my keyboard for a week now and I am crazy happy with it. Such a beautiful piece of hardware! 🙌 pic.twitter.com/0VBGynIP3j

Apologies for commenting on this here but something does not seem to work in the estimation rationale:
- When I initially made my order was may and as per your word estimated delivery was around July. I am seeing estimated progress in batches and as per update post at that time last order estimated for july was 12917.
- Approximately 415 orders later we are at 13332 and the estimated delivery would be October 2022. That would mean per month a shipping rate of approximately 69 orders per month.
- 1 august update says that the last order to be shipped is 11292 so not even close to may estimation. I can't even try to understand what's in the mind of 11292 customer when he sees hs order stalling for at least 3-4 weeks.... anyway ...
Bottom line I really can't understand how these calculations are being made. Last weeks orders as was reported here are 0,71,61,0,268,209,172,109,64,34,0,0, whith a delivery rate of 80 orders/week calculating from may OR 160 orders per week calculated from 1 aug.
A better estimation would be useful in letting people know more about their order in context.
For example:
To give you a rough idea regarding your place in the queue, the order id of the first pending order to be shipped is #11292, and the last order is #13332, which is expected to ship in October 2022 with the following content:
- xx UHK Only (probably colors have something to say here)
- ww UHK + wrist rest pads
- vv UHK + accessories
- zz UHK + accessories + rest pads
- yy Accessories only.
For some reason, I have the distinct sensation that our orders are being seen just as interest check and the production of them seems like a side business and i refuse to believe this... until now.
I have 17 friends that ordered since my order and now they ask me what happening or if they are being scammed. Really not an nice situation.
Hi Elim,
UHK shipments have been usually in the hundreds per month in the last several months, but we usually haven't hit our production targets except for June. Our stock is gradually improving, so I believe we'll catch up with pending orders in October. I don't plan to provide more detailed statistics because it would take additional time to make it, the delays won't be an issue for long, and customers wouldn't receive their orders quicker.
According to the tweets of our customers, we keep shipping orders, and we're a legit company. Not only that, but I should also mention that we promptly refunded pre-orders when requested, even in the early days of our crowdfunding when we were not required to provide refunds, and we keep providing refunds of pending orders upon request.
Production is far from a side business, especially during the parts shortage. We have secured enough parts, but it has been incredibly challenging and costly for us.
We're sorry for the delay and appreciate your continued patience. We're doing our best to ship your order as soon as we can.
> For some reason, I have the distinct sensation that our orders are being seen just as interest check and the production of them seems like a side business
How long this racket would last you think if production was a 'side business'? I get your frustration, I really do - I waited my delivery for about a year. Buy you got to understand this is a boutique shop fighting in the manufacturing scene in these turbulent times. While you might think covid is over, then it sure as heck is not. They simply don't have the leverage to make things happen when larger forces say 'no'.
Also note you made your order in May. If you're from northern hemisphere then this might give you another hint as to why the production might be stalling these months.
It's okay to be unhappy with the slow pace, it is. I sure was. But calling this long-proven company a 'scam' is beyond a stretch. Just take your refund (which they have _always_ offered!) and walk away if you're unhappy with the production pace. No hard feelings.
As another customer, it's a product worth waiting for. Yes, it's expensive. Yes, the production takes ridiculous times. But just look at the bigger picture and realize what's what.
Thanks for the kind and supportive words!
I've been working on taking the backend systems of our on-demand manufacturing operation to the next level, so after catching up, as unbelievable as it may sound, I think we'll be able to usually ship in a workday.
As a happy user of two UHK v2s I do struggle to believe this one :) Happy to be proven wrong and see you guys ship in a day.
Any view on the timelines for the next release of the Agent?
The next firmware and Agent release date highly depend on our developers, who were sporadically available recently, but I'm shooting for August.
Don't get me wrong, I can understand, but up to a point.
1. some terms were promised
2. many people don't feel comfortable paying something and being told to wait for many more months past of what was promised. Purchase was made based on the provider's own estimation, so ... Also amount is not some 50 usd you can forget ...
3. many other people don't also need to understand the industry. Moonlander keyboard is delivered spot on in 2 weeks. (ofc there were issues at the beginning when they started).
4. As I mentioned, some of my friends are upset on me. Some of those items were supposed to be gifts, from their wives for example. And YES there are hard feelings on some because they trusted they could do something nice for their partners. These buyers have no idea, nor the interest to understand the industry. The good thing now is also fun :) because now these people will be able to test side by side moonlanders and UHKs (after they receive them ... this era).
And i didn't call the company a scam, but i got messages like: hey elim, do you have any news about the present for hubby or did we fall into a trap and got scammed? Did your's arrived? I got some other present to him, but he said he waits for what i ordered though.
In any case, i think there are some lessons to learn here for both sides. Production optimization and expectation management.
Well articulated, and I understand where you're coming from, Elim. We're doing our best to catch up and provide accurate ETAs.
Mate, calm down a bit.
I do get your frustration, I ordered my board around new year and the first delivery estimation was April.
I am also not happy with the situation but two things:
1. as far as I can judge it, the UHK is a high end luxury keyboard. It's features are top notch, the quality is according to most people I spoke with stunning and the philosophy of the company (everything open source, even the plans for the boards!) is one of a kind. I am willing to wait for a unique board like this, since this is far beyond the industrial standard.
In my eyes, the UHK is a luxury product, not an expendable item.
2. Even if you and/or your friends don't want to hear it, but many factors are out of the company's control. COVID is hitting supply chains from China still very hard, the recent recession/inflation also doesn't help. Furthermore, Ultimate Gadget Laboratories is a European company in an European country. The workers their are not 'slaves' like in China, they do have working rights, vacation, better pay, etc.
For the customer that obviously means longer delivery times, but that is ok.
End note: Obviously I want my board as soon as possible just like everyone else, but I am more than happy to wait for a high end quality product, made by people who have working rights and good working conditions based in a European country.
@ the people behind the UHK, take your time, please don't rush production too much if it would mean lower quality. I am happy to wait as long as it takes to get a high quality product.
I just received my UHKv2 to Ukraine. It was really worth waiting, really solid product!
Thanks for your kind words! We wish you all the best and #WeStandWithUkraine!
Likely bit wrong venue, but is there any hack to get 2ndary function (eg to get Caps to act as a Ctrl when pressed together with other button) to work in combination with mouse buttons? Eg to get Caps+Mouse1 (using an actual external mouse) to trigger secondary function of Caps?
Unfortunately, what you are trying to achieve is not possible because the UHK and your external mouse are two separate USB devices that don't share their state with each other.
Cheers,
Could we get an update on the current sending number?
And, my order number is #11886, you think it will be shipped this week?
Thanks in advance!
We'll ship your order in September, David.
Thanks for your patience!
