The noise is generated by the LED driver ICs of the keyboard halves, and it's proportional to the brightness of the LEDs, which can be adjusted in Agent. By lowering the LED brightness in Agent, the noise will be reduced. If you find the noise difference disturbing when switching between layers, you can configure the UHK to utilize similar overall brightness across layers. Many other backlit keyboards emit noise for the same reason, and the noise is generally only disturbing in silent environments. We did our best to minimize the noise in the design phase, but we couldn't reduce it further, and we'll be experimenting with alternative LED driver ICs that emit less audible noise in later products.
